USA & Canada

At Travel Concepts, we have built an enviable reputation. We specialise in providing personalised and customised itineraries which allow our clients to touch, feel and really experience the History, Art & Culture of the countries they visit, rather than just passing through!

We try to steer our clients away from the modern and unattractive hotels in cities and towards the unique and traditional style hotels in each country . B&B's and Chateaux, through to Villas and Agriturismi.

In particular, we have a vast array of suggested self-drive and train itineraries throughout the USA & Canada; here is just one suggestion which we would be happy to expand upon for you.

Washington through to Willamsburg

Washington at Leisure
I would suggest buying tickets on the "hop on hop off" trolley that will take you to all the famous (and not so famous but equally magnificent) monuments to many of the Presidents, such as Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt; monuments to the Vietnam and Korean wars (try to visit the latter at night - it is incredibly eerie) Arlington Cemetery which dates back to the Civil War; the White House; Supreme Court and Capitol Hill. You can get off the trolley at however many stops you wish, spend time at your selected site, then move on, with each driver as interesting and informative as the last.

Driving from Washington to Williamsburg your first stop on this relatively short drive should be at Mt Vernon, the home of George Washington for more than 45 years.

Yorktown is the first of the battlefields you can visit in this historic area. This is the site of George Washington's definitive battle of the American Revolution in 1781.

Williamsburg at Leisure
Step back in time in the "Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area", restored to its 1770 grandeur. Locals dress iin colonial attire and represent actual citizens from the 18th century; visit the Raleigh Tavern, a favourite meeting place of delegates to the House of Burgesses, the Governor's Palace and countless colonial homes and shops.

Take a little dog leg to visit Jamestown, founded in 1607 as the first permanent English settlement in the "New World" then continue on to Richmond, which was the capital of the Confederacy during the Civil War. You should take the time to do a little sightseeing here as the buildings are magnificent and it is, as you would suppose, historically important.

We can arrange all your hotel, car hire and train reservations for you prior to arrival to avoid any disappointment.

We can also assist you with self-drive itineraries through many other countries . just ask us and one of our knowledgeable Consultants will be able to assist you.
